Private Eye Examinations
Our Fees for private eye examinations reflect the use of cutting edge technology in all three of our state of the art consulting rooms. In addition, the extended examination time allows our Optometrists to carry out the comprehensive and complex procedures involved, carefully tailoring each examination to your individual eye health requirements.
Allow 60 minutes for the examination time.
Extended NHS Eye Examinations
We are increasingly seeing a difference in what the basic free standard NHS ‘Sight test’ offers patients, and what is available to our private patients, particularly with advances in modern technology and cutting edge diagnostic techniques.
For this reason, we are encouraging all of our patients to extend the scope of the examination beyond the basic NHS test, to a fully comprehensive examination for a supplementary fee of £35.00.
The extended NHS examination gives access to all of the practice technology and provides the Optometrist the additional time required to carry out the comprehensive procedures involved. This ensures that NHS patients receive the same high levels of care enjoyed by our private patients.
We are however committed to the NHS and will continue to offer the standard NHS sight test. You will be given the choice of the basic NHS sight test or extended NHS examination when booking your appointment.
Patients already under the care of an Ophthalmologist will not usually require the extended NHS examination.
Children usually do not require the extended examination.
Certain examinations, such as after a cataract operation, are fully funded and do not require the extended examination.
